A struggle that many of us experience in business communication is finding the balance that allows us to be viewed as confident versus arrogant and assertive versus aggressive. Because there is such a fine line between these, it can be very easy to cross. Conversely, those of us so fearful of crossing the line put ourselves in a place that is so passive that it’s completely ineffective. In this week’s Lessons in Leadership, I’m going to talk about how you can avoid crossing the line from confidence to arrogance and communicate effectively as a business leader.
Take a peek at this week’s video:[Tweet “#BizTip: Here’s how to be seen as #confident vs. #arrogant when you #communicate!”]
To help you find your balance, try the exercise that I demonstrated in the video. To help you out, here’s a quick graphic that outlines the four quadrants.
Once you start to frame your communication so you find the balance that puts you in the Win/Win corner, you’ll begin to see better results negotiating, selling and in everyday business communications!
That’s it for this week’s Lessons in Leadership. Try the exercise and share in the comments below how it worked for you, or join us over on the Facebook group and tell me how it goes! I’ll see you next week when we have a tough conversation about judging others!
